Our Story
Pieces of Jake, a re-commerce company specializing in vintage 1990-2000 era sportswear, streetwear and upcycled clothing, founded by local entrepreneur Jacob "Jake" Revill.
Jake is passionate about sustainability, art and fashion, and he has made it his mission to give new life to pre-loved garments, refurbishing and transforming them into unique, stylish pieces that make a statement.
Each item from Pieces of Jake is thoughtfully selected or creatively reimagined, ensuring that every item is one-of-a-kind.
By focusing on upcycling and re-commerce, Jake not only offers distinctive fashion choices but also promotes environmental responsibility by reducing textile waste.
Let's talk about Re-commerce
Recommerce or 'reverse commerce' is the selling of previously owned, new or used products through physical or online distribution channels to buyers who use, repair (as necessary), then reuse, rework, recycle, upcycle, or resell themselves. [source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recommerce]
What appeals to me most here is that it encourages us, the consumer, to trade with each other, as directly as possible. It speaks that we should focus on working with what we have already manufactured, repairing, reworking, customising. These creative endeavours also give power to the theme of celebrating the individual and freedom of expression through how we choose to dress. Another huge impact that re-commerce has is that it discourages fast fashion trends and the use of petroleum derived fabrics that are not beneficial to our bodies.
It's no wonder that market analysts are predicting huge growth in this market:
"...In 2021, the re-commerce market in the United States was estimated at more than $160 billion, a 15% increase from nearly $140 billion in 2020. That growth is expected to continue, with a forecast to reach $245 billion by 2025..."[FORBES]

The Age of The Individual
We are living in the age of 'The Individual', which means we're expressing ourselves in how we dress now more than ever in our living history. The cut and paste of combining what I like to call a 'statement' piece with gorpcore basics is both the wall and the canvas of this design aesthetic which is so widely accessible as a basis for simple style (a 'How to Dress Cool for Dummies'. Pieces of Jake carves right into that niche where you can add texture to your look with layers, expressing your own unique sense of style.
Wherever possible, we use recycled packaging materials when processing orders using as little plastic as possible.
All pre-owned clothing is cleaned and sanitized prior to listing using Canadian made, eco-friendly laundry detergent or other natural cleaning solutions like baking soda
We specialize in recycled fashion, using damaged clothing as source fabric for patches or combining two damaged items to create something unique
